This is the pause before you speak. No timer is running yet — take a breath with the orb, gather your thoughts, and start when it feels right.

Each turn is up to 2 minutes. That’s on purpose: long enough to say something real, short enough that both of you keep getting turns.

When you tap Begin

• TalkStik asks for microphone permission the first time (recording can’t work without it — if you decline, you’ll stay here and can try again).
• The 2-minute countdown arms for both phones and you move to the live session; see Your turn to speak.
• Your partner, meanwhile, sees that you’re getting ready on their listening screen.
